There have been many books written about the history of pre- and post-colonial Trinidad and Tobago. This book is not one of them. Although it does capture the essential highlights of that time it does so only to attempt to show the impact of colonization has negatively affected the current Trinidadian psyche. Historically and still to the present day, there has been division sowed between the Afro-Trinidadian and the Indo-Trinidadian.

This book explores the history and bring it forward to the present day to help the reader better understand why. It is only through understanding the currents that buffeted the ship of nationhood in the past can we recognize and avoid the swirling whirlpools in the present. This book, written with a combination of prose and poetry also encourages all Trinidadians to shed the post-colonial mindset of division by race and religion and stride into a better future.
